Skeins of yarn, standing in for a portrait

Hi, I'm Maggie.

I've been knitting for eighteen years and blogging about it, badly at first and then less badly, for the last six. Loose Ends started as a way to keep track of my own pattern notes and turned into something closer to a part-time job, which is a sentence every craft blogger eventually types with some surprise.

What's actually here

Three kinds of posts, roughly. There are yarn and kit reviews, where I try to be the annoying person who actually washes the swatch three times before telling you it's good. There are patterns — free ones, mostly simple, built for an evening rather than a month. And there are the essays, which show up less often and are usually about something a stitch pattern reminded me of rather than the stitch pattern itself.

How I test what I review

Say hello

I answer most comments within a few days, and I read every one even when I don't. If you've made something from a pattern here, I genuinely want to see it.
